These Morph or Chameleon Coffee Mugs are black or dark blue on the outside and outside bottom in regular, ambient temperature  but as soon as a hot liquid is poured into them, they color-change into a white exterior and reveal their full-color gift mugs decoration on the now white outside of the mug. They are not completely black/brownish or dark blue/brownish when cold and will permit some of the underlying images to shine though. Answers to some of your questions are here These new thermo, heat-sensitive, temperature-activated, color-changing morph gift mugs are now available on a limited basis and carry a price increment over our regular, full-color, custom-decorated and personalized coffee gift mugs.
Supplies of these new morph mugs as well as our multi-colored ceramic coffee mug models are rather limited and might also require longer delivery times than our all-white coffee mugs.
Both of our morph mugs, the black and/or the dark blue, let the colors of an image shine slightly through when cold. In other words, no image is completely "blacked" or "blued" out. They're all a little translucent and not completely opaque. To determine if this slight shine-through is acceptable to you, you might first want to order a sample mug using your particular digital image. Our Morph or Chameleon mugs are specially coated on their outside, including handle and outside bottom. The entire morph or chameleon mug is temperature-sensitive and hence no partial morph effects can be expected. The entire outside surface does change colors when a hot liquid is poured into them. The black or dark-blue morph surface cannot be decorated, only the "underlying" white surface. .
