Since many of our customers supply their own high-resolution digital art work files for the decoration of their custom coffee mugs, we indicate here the maximum dimensions - sizes - for images we can decorate our white coffee mugs with. We can decorate  areas with the following approximate sizes and dimensions:

Please note that above measurements are what we can physically decorate on our white coffee mugs. The designs shown in any of our web site  illustrations or anywhere in this web site are only for illustration purposes and might or might not correspond to the dimensions and/or measurements above indicated. All measurements are approximate and can vary from mug to mug. They are not absolute. We always recommend to have a sample mug decorated before running a large custom mug order. And also take a look what our mugs really look like before they're decorated.

Since not all our coffee mugs were created equal, some differences in size and dimensions as well as capacity are unavoidable. All indications contained in this web site are approximations only and cannot be taken as precise measurements. They only help in differentiating the various mugs sizes we carry. General Observations:

The human eye can only see with a single "eye-full" a certain amount of information placed on a cylindrical surface. In our case this works out to be about:

  • 3" in width for our 11-oz and 18-oz mugs;  and to about 

  • 3.5" for our 15-oz mugs;


Based on this, the standard single-sided decoration included in the price of a custom mug is:

  • 3" x 3" for our 11-oz and 18-oz mugs; 

  • 3.5" x 3.5" for our 15-oz mugs;


If we now place another single-sided decoration - based on above indications - on the other mug side, we then obtain two images that can be seen with one "eye-full" on either side of the mug.
Measuring now from the extreme right of one image to the extreme left of the other image around the mug,  we can now determine the total "width" of a wrap-around decoration - whereby the space between the two images can also be decorated.

The handle-to-handle decoration represents the TOTAL width/height we can physically decorate on a mug, stopping short of the mug handle and leaving some space below the mug's rim and above the mug's foot.

Under certain circumstances and based on individual mug designs, we might also be able to decorate our 11-oz coffee mugs from top to bottom, that is, the entire height of the coffee mug - from head to toe, so to speak. 
In this case, the maximum dimensions of any image visible on the 11-oz coffee mug will be about: ~ 3-¾" x 8.33". 

Since we require some extra image size to be able to print it on our 11-oz coffee mugs. the total image size should be: ~ 4" x 8.33" but only about 3-¾" will be used and visible.

For mug decorations of this type, a surcharge will apply which we can only determine upon receipt of the digital image under consideration.

Since images of this size and required resolution of at least 300 dpi's will be very large, they can only be uploaded to our FTP server. For more information about how to upload to a FTP server, you might want to consult here.

Since we can only decorate white coffee mug surfaces, we now also offer a series of mugs colored either on the inside only or on the rim and handle only. Try it, you might like the way they look!

To preserve the beauty and vibrancy of the image on your sublimation mugs, it is best to hand wash them. Also, never leave the mugs in direct sunlight, for example on a window sill.
