In order to obtain the
"right" digital raster/bitmap images for the decoration of gift mugs, it
is best to start out with a new and blank image in the right dimensions
and resolution.
This is rather easy to
create and the following sample is based on PhotoShop, but most other
bitmap/raster graphics applications work very similar and the
information indicated below can be applied to all of them.
Open your graphics
application - in this case PhotoShop - and select "File" and "New".
A new window will open - shown below - into which you enter the required
information.
You can name your new image anything just make sure that you can easily
find it on your computer.
In the form shown
here we have already entered the required data which would be for a
single-sided decoration for our 15-oz coffee gift mugs. The final
decoration size will be 3.5" x 3.5" with a resolution of 300 dpi's.
For contents you can select White (our preference) or Transparent.
As you can see, this image file is already very large and hence cannot
be sent as an attachment to an e-mail and will have to be
FTP'd directly to our servers.
Please note that if
we wanted to create a handle-to-handle decoration for our 21-oz mugs,
you'd then just enter these dimensions: Width: 10.75" and Height: 3.75",
always leaving the resolution at 300 and the mode at: RGB Color.
After
you hit "OK", a new white and blank page will open which you can then
"fill" with your mug decoration.
As already mentioned
above, these raster/bitmap files will be rather large. Hence it is
highly recommended to compress them before sending them to us. You can
find many free file compressors on the Internet and you might also want
to read this.
